Unused enemies/creatures

There are many unused  enemies and creatures in croc leggend of the gobbos. Some of them can be found in the tech demo, these are:

Enemy name Description Image
Red dragonfly In the final game it is replaced by the rats. They fly and will hurt Croc if he touches them.
Red dragonfly
Blue dragonfly Just the blue version of the dragonfly, it has no diferences from the red dragonfly except that it is located in the ice world.
Blue dragonfly
Red popper A red small enemy that will jump around and hurt Croc if he touches him. In the final game it is replaced by firepopper
Red popper
Blue popper Just the blue version of the popper, it has no diferences from the red popper except that it is located in the ice world.
Blue popper
Green creature (This may not actually be an enemy, as Croc can't interact with it) This is located in the desert world, it is big and has a big open mouth.
Creature
(Unknown name) This enemy appears on the winter world and seems like it's throwing something, this enemy may have been replaced by the ice dantini.
Enemy
Fish (This may not actually be an enemy) This fish appears on the winter world and jumps out of the icy water and then back again.
Fish
Pelican This enemy appears only in the first section of the first level of the tech demo, it will hurt Croc if croc touches it.
Pelican
Creature This creature probably wasn't finished by the time the tech demo was releashed, it can't interact with Croc also it keeps spinning in a circle.
Thing
Tooty the feeble Although tooty the feeble was in the final game, it is on this list because in the tech demo, it appears as a common enemy. (Also it is much shorter than the final game's tooty the feeble.)
Tooty the feeble
Worm Just a worm (probably replaced by the Burrowing Worm).
Worm
Creature This removed enemy shoots arrows at Croc when Croc get's near.
Creature1

Changed/unused objects

There where many objects that didn't make it into the final game or that did make it but they had changed, some of these objects are:

-Jellies: Jellies replaced the springs which where used in the beta version, this can be seen in

Betaspring

The springs that were used before the jellies

the game's files, where the jellies are called spring in the maps.wad

-Beany gong: the Beany gong was originaly just a door you passed through to end the level in the tech demo version, then in the beta version the beany gong became just a simple gong which had "GOAL" written on it.

-Colored Crystals the colored crystals didn't exist in the demo, they appeared for the first time in the beta, but there was only the red crystal which just gave Croc 5 crystals instead of one.

-BONUS letters: The BONUS letters only existed in the beta version of Croc, they were five letters, B-O-N-U-S some of them where disguised as crystals, if Croc gathered all of the 5 BONUS letters, he could unlock the BONUS door at the end of the level, which was later replaced with the crystal door, and the BONUS letters were replaced by the colored crystals.

-Hearts: In the tech demo and beta version there were no hearts, but there were red and blue sacks that gave Croc an extra life.

-Trees and plants: There are a lot of trees and plants found in the beta version of Croc, some of them appear in the game but most of them don't:

-Smash Boxes: In the tech demo the smash boxes are very different from the final game's Smash Boxes, first of all they're grey, secondly, when you break one, the crystals will be scattered around you, also in the winter world, the smash box is transparent and appears to be made out of ice.

-Clams: These were found in the underwater areas of the beta version, they open when Croc get's close to them and they release a crystal.

Clam

Electricity: This is a removed hazard:

Lectric

Arrow Shaped Platform: an early version of the Arrow Shaped Platform.

Smthing

Snowboarding: snowboarding is a removed game mechanic.

Croc 2

Pre-release pictures

Unfortunately, unlike Croc 1, there aren't any released betas for Croc 2. Also people haven't managed to hack Croc 2 like they did with Croc 1 so that we get information about the game's cut content. So the only information that exists about Croc 2's cut content right now is some images and videos that were released before the official release of Croc 2(warning, all of the descriptions are just speculation and may be wrong about what the image actually is)

An early racing area, notice that Croc is on a raft and not on a boat like in the final game.
Croc2-1
Another early racing area.
Croc2-2

Croc2-3
An underwater level inside of a shipwrecked ship, notice the heart counter is different than in the final game.
Croc2-4
This is just an early Village Masher area (It is rumored that this is the first ever image of Croc 2 released in Europe and that it was published in the E3 1998 (Metal Gear Solid cover) issue of an independent UK PlayStation magazine by the name of "Play")
Croc2-5
An early level (probably in the sailor village) with two swinging dantinis.
Croc2-6

In this advertisement you can get a glimpse of the underwater level, and also you can see a levels where Croc rides the plane while there are dantinis around him, this means that there was a level where you flew around with the plane in a regular level, and not high in the sky.

Information about cut content

  • The gibberish "voices" for the Gobbos and other characters in Croc 2 were created from recording words in English, and then chopping them up and mixing them around in order to acheive a 'babbling' effect. Amusingly, this audio had to be checked over to make sure that none of it resembled swearing.
  • One of the most touted features of Croc 2 was that there were several themed tribes of Gobbos. The example of this that was always given in previews, and other literature, was the Cowboys & Indians tribe - there was even promotional art of the Cowboy Gobbos on the back of the manual for Croc 2. Inexplicably, however, this most famous tribe of them all was not in the game.
  • A Dreamcast port of Croc 2 was planned, but it was cancelled when Fox Interactive dropped support for the machine. Publishers have a lot of influence on what developers do, so Argonaut had to stop working on the game. As far as is known from the little information and screenshots of the game that there were, it was simply a straight port of the PlayStation version of the game. Whether or not it had any extra features is not known.
  • Earlier versions of Croc 2 contained some amusing uses of British words and phrase-structure. Interestingly, there was a slight 'dispute' (though nothing serious, of course) between the UK folks at Argonaut, and some of Fox Interactive's US people, as to whether or not the word "cheeky" existed. For the unaware, "cheeky" is a word that essentially means that someone has a bit of an attitude - usually a sort of mischievous, jokey one. As you can see, the word applies quite well to some of the characters in the Croc series.
  • The binoculars Croc receives at the start of Croc 2 were originally a telescope. Additionally, in the aforementioned earlier versions of Croc 2, the binoculars were actually referred to as binoculars, rather than "Magic Eye Zoomers"
  • As hinted at in the previous point, the Gobbos spoke more coherent English in the earlier versions of Croc 2 (except in some very early versions, which had some typographical errors). By the final version, however, their words had been "dumbed down" somewhat. Though amusing, it never seemed as clever as when they spoke proper English.

Croc Tech Demo

Gameshark

In the Tech Demo version of Croc Legend of the Gobbos, you can do Gameshark hacks in order to access hidden levels, you can access these levels with the code 80056CA8 00?? In this code you must replace the ?? with different numbers each time so that you can access the hidden levels. The levels that have been already found are these (there may be even more hidden levels which haven't been discovered yet.)
